The purpose of Open XML Translator is to enable users to open documents based on the Open Document specification (ODF), which is used, among others, in the Open Office suite, in Microsoft Word. The plug-in enables both writing and reading of ODF files. The plugin is supported by Word in XP/2003/2007 versions and is located in five languages - including Polish.

Before installing the plug-in, the following applications must be installed in the system: Microsoft Word XP or Microsoft Word 2003 or Word 2007, Office Compatibility Pack and the .NET framework 2.0 library.
