UFRaw (Unidentified Flying Raw) is a free tool for reading and manipulating RAW images. It can be used as a stand-alone application or as an extension of the popular Gimpa. The program is based on the DCRaw converter and despite its small size it offers quite a lot of possibilities.
With its help, it is very easy to adjust the exposure, adjust the white balance, remove noise, as well as trim and rotate the image by a given angle. On the other hand, Paweł Jochym's plug-in built into UFRaw ensures that the effects of work will be displayed on the screen in real time. All converted photos can be saved with Exif metadata to PPM, PNG, JPEG and TIFF files.
UFRaw supports most of the most popular digital camera models from Canon, Pentax, Samsung, Nikon, Olympus, Fuji, Kodak and Sony, and can handle RAW files in DNG, CRW, CR2, NEF, PEF, RAF, ORF, MRW and ARW formats. UFRaw requires Gimp 2.4.6 or later installed on your system. The latest version of Gimpa can be downloaded from PROGRAMS -> Graphics > Creating and editing raster graphics (see:
Related Programs).
