LightScribe System Software is the tool required to create labels directly on special CDs/DVDs. LightScribe is a technology for creating labels by burning them with laser light directly on the surface of the disc. Creating professional-looking labels is very easy:

just burn the disc, turn it over and burn the label. Recording and burning takes place in the same drive. A LightScribe-enabled DVD drive laser burns an image on the layer that covers the data-free side of the LightScribe disc.

The LightScribe system does not use ink that could smudge, paper that would roll up, or any adhesives. The system also supports other programs including Sonic Express Labeler, Nero Cover Designer, SureThing CD Labeler (SE version), Roxio Easy Media Creator and many others.
