Chromium is an open source web browser created by Google, from which Chrome and other browsers such as Opera, Vivaldi and Yandex Browser are later created. Chromium differs from Chrome only by the lack of proprietary and closed components, added by Google, and another logo. There is no automatic update component, no license terms view, and no user activity tracking mechanism, so Chromium can be confidently recommended to anyone who cares about their privacy.

This open source browser is fully compatible with extensions and plugins for Google Chrome. In Chromium we can use a PDF reader and integrated Flash Player and download add-ons directly from the Chrome Web Store, we can also synchronize settings, bookmarks and passwords via Google Account. By default Chromium on Windows supports HTML5 web video only in Vorbis, Theora and WebM formats.

Google Chrome also supports H.264, AAC and MP3. This does not prevent you from watching videos on YouTube, but it may prevent some other video services from working. For Windows XP and Windows Vista, the latest working version of this browser is Chromium 49.
