Blackthorne by Blizzard Entertainment may be slightly underestimated, but it is still a classic genre of platformers with elements of shooting and combining. Years later, the producers decided to make this cult product available for free in certain crews, so that the next generation of computer-builders could see how art was approached in the past. Seemingly an old title, but from the very first seconds it draws you in.
We get to know history from the point of view of a muscular and well-trained mercenary named Kyle. The heartwood growing up on Earth begins to have strange dreams about a distant planet under the occupation of dark force. It soon turns out that he is the only son of the fallen ruler of the globe, Tuul, and his countrymen are oppressed.
So he returns to the galaxy's hometown to deal with the evil. First he shoots, then he asks. The game successfully combines dynamic action with classic platform jumping, climbing and the use of useful items.
Closed doors are simply blown up with explosives. When exchanging fire with enemies, you can hide in the shadows and wait for the right moment to shoot from the rifle and not get the ball yourself. Blackthorne premiered in 1994 and is still surprising.
