Windows XP Service Pack 3 is a collective Windows XP update package - both those released in Windows Update from the moment of release to the moment of Service Pack release, as well as other unpublished patches. Service Pack 3 includes components including MMC 3.0 console, Windows Installer 3.1, PNRP 2.1 protocol, and the same remote desktop client as Windows Vista, version 6.1. Service Pack 2 also supports WPA2 wireless network encryption.

However, the above components could be installed separately even before the release of Service Package, while the unique feature of SP3 is the system's adjustment to work with newer Microsoft server systems - it is worth noting that Windows XP Service Pack 3 introduces an activation mechanism similar to that used in Windows Vista and Windows 7, so that it is possible to skip the key during installation and complete this formality later, before activation. Of course, you will need the Windows XP installation media already integrated with Service Pack 3. Service Package 3 cannot be installed on a "clean" version of Window XP that does not yet have any previous Service Package.

You must therefore have at least Service Pack 1 or Service Pack 2 to install the latest Service Pack 3.
