SeaTools is a simple and free preparation tool from Seagate to perform diagnostic tests on hard drives installed on your computer and connected to it via USB and FireWire (IEEE-1394) ports. The program supports Seagate, Maxtor and many other manufacturers' devices running on ATA (PATA/IDE), SATA and SCSI buses. In addition to the basic functions for determining the actual state of physical media, SeaTools also offers options for formatting, importing firmware and providing detailed information about them (e.g.

model, firmware version, temperature, cache size, number of hours worked, etc.). The program requires .NET Framework version 2.0 or later installed in the system.
