PassMark DiskCheckup is a free and uncomplicated tool for diagnosing hard drives. With the help of the program we can monitor the condition of data carriers. The tool supports SMART (Self-Monitoring Analysis and Technology Reporting) technology, allowing the user to monitor many important parameters of hard drives.

Their proper compilation and analysis allows us to determine the potential failure of the device a long time before its occurrence, enabling us to protect the data collected on it, e.g. by transferring them to another medium. PassMark DiskCheckup provides detailed information about each hard drive installed in your computer - including interface type, capacity, serial number, firmware version, available partitions, device geometry, etc.

Among the SMART data offered by the tool we can find the number of start/stop cycles, frequency of errors during reading, disk temperature, number of transmission errors in Ultra DMA mode or seek operations. The program can handle most hard drives connected to a computer via SATA, USB and FireWire interfaces. PassMark DiskCheckup does not support SCSI and hardware RAID.

If it detects the possibility of a disk failure, the tool can inform the user by displaying an appropriate notification or sending an alert to a specified e-mail address. From its level, we will also carry out tests to determine the actual condition of the device and detect e.g. damaged segments.
