DxO Optics Pro is an advanced electronic darkroom, i.e. a program for processing photos taken with a digital camera, which allows you to take the whole process, from selecting photos to saving them in the chosen format. Unlike others, this program is very strongly based on the parameters of photographic equipment and therefore the processing parameters with its use are very well matched to the images.

Thanks to an extensive library of modules, DxO Optics is able to quickly and precisely remove the imperfections of images resulting from the construction of the camera and lens. The filters were prepared in the DxO laboratory on the basis of a very detailed analysis of the effects of working with camera and lens combinations. The appropriate parameters allow to reduce the curvature and stretch of the image resulting from the use of, for example, a wide-angle lens, reduction of the vignette, sharpening and removal of chromatic aberrations.

The same parameters can, of course, be applied to multiple photos, so you can remove curves and discolorations from the entire session with just a few clicks. Precise geometric correction allows you to restore objects on the edges of the photo to their natural appearance. Anamorphic correction allows you to give your subjects the correct proportions and shape, while horizontal and vertical correction makes it easier to give your photos the right perspective.

Fully appreciate the program allows you to process photos in RAW format. DxO Optics provides digital darkroom parameters appropriate to the camera model and the conditions in which the pictures were taken. To ensure optimal processing, the converter used in the DxO software is based on a detailed calibration that is specific to each instrument model.

Thanks to advanced noise removal, excellent color reproduction and detail, DxO images are of excellent quality. DxO Optics has implemented an interesting technology to optimize local and global exposure and contrast levels. Each area of the image is treated as a separate part of the image while maintaining image consistency.

Thanks to this treatment of exposure it is possible to achieve a balance between light and dark areas, local contrast settings allow you to highlight details in the shade. Such flexible tools also allow you to "save" photos whose exposure is far from perfect. Use these parameters to restore the natural appearance of objects in burnt or underexposed fragments of photos, or to create an effect similar to an HDR image.

Advanced colour control in DxO Optics guarantees vivid colours and bright lights or, on the contrary, aging, faded, patina-covered photos. In addition, the white balance control has been completely handed over to the user. Here, as in the case of contrast and exposure, we can use a multi-point parameter change.

The ability to remove dust spots, which usually destroy a whole series of photos, is an indispensable tool in any darkroom. With DxO Optics it is possible to save the method of removing pollen from images and to use this template several times. You can also use this tool to remove unwanted objects such as cables or columns.

The background of the photo is reconstructed on the basis of the fragments surrounding the removed object. The interface of the program is complex but intuitive. Beginner users will certainly benefit from the tips displayed when they enter any workspace.

The working spaces are adapted to the level of sophistication of the user. After working with the program for a longer time and getting acquainted with the tools, it is worth investing some time in creating your own space and placing the most frequently used pallets there. Photo processing takes place in four steps:

image selection, filtering, processing, recording. A separate "card" is prepared for each step. DxO Optics is focused on mass image processing, which is very helpful when working with whole sessions with several hundred files.

The parameters of each photo can of course be changed separately, but if many of them are repeated (geometry correction, noise removal, etc.) this program will work well. It is also worthwhile to take a look at the predefined parameters of "calling up" photos, which will certainly make the work easier and faster.
