Areca Backup is an open source data archiving tool that allows you to create and restore backups of your data as needed. It allows you to effectively protect valuable files and documents on computers running Windows and Linux systems. The program gives us the ability to create so-called backups of any files and folders, also enabling their compression, password protection or sending to e-mail reports with information about the operations performed.

The interface of the tool, although it is available only in English, is simple and intuitive. From its level, we can easily define many data archiving profiles, while configuring many important attributes for future backups. Areca Backup allows you to archive data within local drives as well as on FTP/SFTP servers.

It supports standard and incremental backups, compression of archives using ZIP (different compression levels), as well as AES backup encryption. There was also the function of merging and removing unnecessary archives, transactional mechanism, option of filtering archived files or recovery of data from the specified date.
