XOWA is a very simple and multiplatform application designed to view and edit Wikipedia offline, without an active Internet connection. It also allows you to download the content of an encyclopedia and save it on your local disk. The application is written in Java and is available for Windows, Linux and Mac OS operating systems.
Its interface is ascetic and at the same time very easy to use. It brings together features that allow you to conveniently download and browse Wikipedia content without having to connect to the Internet. It can be successfully used by article creators, giving the opportunity to work with materials offline.
XOWA can also be used to create a copy of the full content of the encyclopedia on our computer. The application retains all original formatting, cross-linking and functionality, including search engine support and wiki support, such as wikiquote and Victorians. All content (created from an official encyclopedia backup) is downloaded by the integrated BitTorrent network client.
The tool can automatically update an offline copy by downloading differential packages prepared by its authors.
