Wubi is a small but useful tool, which is aimed at beginners who want to install and try out the Linux operating system on their computer. It enables a very convenient installation from Windows of the Ubuntu environment on a virtual disk, which is carried out in a manner similar to the installation of traditional applications or games. If you decide to use Wubi, you don't have to worry about the system media or download the Ubuntu installation disk image from the Internet.
What's more, in the case of non-Linux users, the tool allows to avoid many mistakes, e.g. during partitioning, which can cause permanent deletion of important data. Working with Wubi is done through a simple installation wizard, which initially collects relevant user account data on the installed system, downloads the appropriate environmental image and installs it.
There is no need for manual partitioning, configuration of multiple system options, Internet options, etc. After installation, the Ubuntu system can be run from the bootloader, which is loaded during the boot process. By default, Windows is also available there.
Installing Linux using Wubi is very easy, although it may take more time than installing it using standard tools. During this time, the user role is basically limited to indicating the partitions on the disk, where the virtual partition for Ubuntu will be created (available from Windows as a .disk file) and defining the preferred graphical environment - Gnome or KDE. It is also very easy to remove Ubuntu from our computer.
Simply open the system's 'Add/Remove Programs' mechanism and point to the appropriate position in the list or restart Wubi.
