Wireshark is a popular sniffer available on many operating systems, formerly also known as Ethereal. Sniffers, also called network analysers or packet analysers, are valuable tools for network administrators, advanced users and enthusiasts. They allow you to track packets sent over a selected network interface and thus solve problems with network applications or view the way in which an application exchanges data.
They are also one of the favourite network tools of burglars. In a local network, through appropriate manipulation of its infrastructure, e.g. by means of ARP poisoning, they allow intercepting packets of other users and thus overhearing them.
In version 1.0, vulnerabilities in X.509sat, Roofnet, LDAP and SCCP have been removed. Add support for IEEE 802.15.4, Infiniband, Parallel Redundancy Protocol, RedBack Lawful Intercept and Xcsl and update support for several dozen others. An experimental package was also created for Mac OS X for Intel-based computers.
