Service Pack 2 for Windows XP is one of the largest service packs in Microsoft's history. It introduces a number of new security mechanisms into the system, much more advanced than before. New features provided by Service Pack 2 enable better protection against viruses, worms and hackers.
SP2 for Windows XP has, among other things, a default enabled, improved firewall, which is designed to protect the computer against external attacks (for example by Blaster worms), there is also a new Security Center window, where you can quickly check the status of basic security services - firewall, antivirus program or system updates. Service Pack 2 is also a number of other improvements, not only increasing the security of the system, but also its stability. The add-on also updates many Windows-based programs, for example Windows Movie Maker to version 2.1.
If you already have Service Pack 1 or more on your Windows XP computer, we recommend that you install a newer version of Service Pack 3 instead of Service Pack 2, which includes Service Pack 2 and introduces a number of additional patches and changes. If you have a "clean" version of Windows XP without a Service Pack, you must first install Service Pack 2 and only then Service Pack 3.
