Universal Extractor is a free tool for decompressing and extracting files from many of the most popular types of archives and installers. With its help we can extract the content of compressed files in formats 7Z, RAR, ZIP, ACE, LZMA, GZIP, TAR, as well as many other less known formats. The program is banally easy to use, offering a very modest and feature-poor graphical interface.
It integrates with the system shell and is accessible from the right-click context menu on any archive. The application may of course also be supported after its standard launch. In this case, the user must specify the location of the archive/installer to unzip and the destination folder for the decompressed files.
Universal Extractor is not an alternative to the popular WinRAR or WinZIP because of the offered functionality, which only allows you to extract data. Nevertheless, the large number of supported formats has resulted in the program having crowds of dedicated users all over the world. The full list can be found on the manufacturer's website.
