The latest version of the cult file manager (formerly known as Windows Commander). Total Commander is a program based on the philosophy known from Norton Commander, also two windows, the same keyboard shortcuts that is the highest level of convenience in operations on files and folders. In addition to the standard features found in such programs, Total Commander offers access to many file systems (FAT32, NTFS, PocketPC for palmtops), built-in FTP/FXP client, extensive support for compressed files (several formats), HTML document preview, group directory renaming and many more....
Since version 7 the program contains many improvements, such as those related to the interface, extensive search, and bookmarks with favorites. The most visible change is the refreshed program interface. New are menu icons, folder, file or drive icons, as well as the program icon itself.
Although the change is seemingly minor, the effect is immediately visible - in previous versions, until the outdated Windows 95 icons "hit the eyes". Other novelties include the ability to set a different background color in panels for odd and even lines, the option to save the file.log of all operations performed on files, sorting files successively by two columns (e.g. first by date and then by file size), autofilling the path when entering commands, defining own commands, secure FTP connections via SSL/TLS, creating ZIP archives of over 2 GB and many, many others.
