Tor Messenger is based on the Instantbird messaging software developed by the Mozilla community using the Tor network. Different protocols are supported, but the identity of the callers is protected for each protocol. Messenger Tor allows you to chat on Jabber (XMPP), IRC, Google Talk, Facebook Chat, Twitter, Yahoo!, Twitter and Odnokłassniki networks.
Although logins and relations with contacts will not be hidden from central servers, all traffic to them will be very difficult to trace thanks to the track. In addition, by default, the ability to chat is disabled if one of the users does not use an encrypted protocol. Tor Messenger uses the off-the-record (OTR) method based on four basic assumptions:
encryption, authentication, denial and confidentiality. Thanks to the verification system, when talking, we can be sure that there is the person on the other side, for whom the interlocutor claims to be on the other side. In addition, messages shall be encrypted and protected against forgery.
If the user loses his authorization keys, no one will have access to the call history.
