TinyWall is a firewall overlay built into Windows Vista and 7. Its installation makes it easy to manage the firewall's configuration, while also adding some useful features. The tool was created to simplify and partly extend the functionality of the default Windows firewall.
It allows you to protect your computer against hundreds of different types of viruses, trojans or worms, while still remaining a tool that does not interfere with the daily work of a large number of notifications, etc. Nor does it require the user to have specialist knowledge of network topology, ports or Internet protocols. TinyWall runs on the Windows firewall and does not install any additional drivers or kernel components on your system.
The program uses the mechanism of network zones, allowing you to easily change the protection settings depending on where you are (home, work, public place). From the tool settings you can quickly and efficiently change the protection mode (normal protection, permission for outgoing, block everything, etc.), as well as define temporary firewall rules. There was also an auto-learning mechanism and additional protection of access to the firewall configuration.
In addition, the user gets the function of securing the hosts file and creating lists of blocked ports or domains. TinyWall fully supports IPv6.
