Stackout is a free arcade game that approaches the classic gameplay known from Arkanoid and his clones from a slightly different perspective. A few small changes in a well-known formula makes you feel really surprised here. It's still about knocking down the elements by bouncing off the ball with a palette, but the way to show the fun is simply different in the work of art.
First of all, the individual stages are presented here at a slight oblique angle, so you should also take immediate action on the movements of the rack itself. The multi-coloured bricks, which were removed from the screen as a condition of moving to the next level, have been replaced by minimalist landscapes. In this way we will nail down fragments of hills with trees, buildings in the city, dunes or, let's say, a colourful circus housing estate.
Of course, there are also special powers, but in the game they simply fall from above at random moments. We have only a handful of them, including enlarging the pallet, splitting the ball or giving it a particularly destructive power, but they do not activate automatically. We collect kits to use them at any time by selecting power from a separate menu.
This introduces a planning element.
