SoftPerfect RAM Disk is until recently a paid tool designed to create so-called RAM disks, i.e. virtual disks located in RAM memory. By using them properly, you can easily increase the performance of your computer, reduce file system fragmentation, or reduce the noise and temperature generated by standard hard drives.

One of the main arguments in favour of using this type of data carriers is instant access to the data collected within it. That's why it's a good idea to place files that we often use or temporary data required to run the applications we use. This application of these virtual disks makes it possible to increase the performance of Windows and the programs installed within it.

It is worth remembering that this solution is not free from defects. RAM disks are temporary memory (their content is erased during the restart of the computer), and their capacity limits the amount of memory installed in the computer. SoftPerfect RAM Disk gives us the ability to create up to 26 virtual disks, whose size in the case of 32-bit systems can be up to 3.5 GB (in 64-bit editions there is no such limitation).

Virtual disks created using the program are available in Windows Explorer and can be supported as standard HDDs. It is worth mentioning that the developers solved one of the inconveniences of data warehouses located in RAM (data impermanence), implementing in the program the possibility of creating temporary as well as permanent virtual disks. In the case of the latter, their contents are read into the memory each time the computer is started.
