Shotcut is a free, open source application for non-linear video editing. The program allows for quick and easy editing of clips, adding special effects or rendering of the final movie. The editor works on slightly different rules than we are accustomed to it by the tools available on the market.
First of all, the application does not offer something like a time line on which we place video materials. In Shotcut you will find a playlist of clips with defined periods of time to render. Before you add a clip to a list of rendered materials, you can apply several of the effects and filters offered.
Among the filters offered by the Shotcut editor you will find tools responsible for sharpening and blurring the image, improving the white balance, adding the effect of glow, framing or giving a climatic look thanks to the plugin of correction and color grading in video materials. In addition, the application offers a large database of defined video compression settings for the most popular formats, including h.264, MPEG-4, Apple ProRess, WebM, Flash and image sequences (BMP, GIF, JPEG, PNG, SVG, TGA, TIFF, DPX). In addition to rendering movies, Shotcut also allows you to stream clips over UDP protocol.
