Screensaver Subterfuge is a game based on a screen saver from Windows 95. It is available for free on Windows, Linux and MacOS. Production is the responsibility of Poor Track Design studio, which has several other positions in its portfolio maintained vaporwave aesthetics.

Screensaver Subterfuge offers a simple gameplay that, from a first person perspective, allows players to play the role of a young hacker who wanders through the maze. The player's task is to find yellow smiles that take you to the next level of the maze. Along the way we meet rodents, we are also equipped with weapons.

Shooting with Windows basket icons, we change the texture of the brick labyrinth. Poor Track Design studio tried to faithfully render all the elements of the famous extinguisher. Manufacturers point out that to create textures of brick walls, stone ceiling and carpet, the same bitmap was used as in the case of Windows screensaver.

To further emphasize the aesthetics of vaporwave, music from Hellbender was used. Screensaver Subterfuge, although not the most playable production, undoubtedly successfully resurrects the spirit of the cult operating system. The game was created within the PROCJAM 2017 project, i.e.

an annual event whose main theme are various creative techniques. Poor Track Design studio, on the other hand, has already recorded several other productions with similar aesthetics.
