Samsung Magician is an application designed to diagnose and control the operation of Samsung SSDs. It allows you to check the status of your drive, perform necessary optimizations, and use hardware-based data encryption. The application is not necessary for operation, but allows you to increase the performance of the media.

The main application screen shows all the most important information about drives and their status. Thanks to it we will get to know the diagnostic readings of SMART, the amount of occupied and free space, the number of stored data on NAND cells, as well as data about the mode of operation, e.g. AHCI.

From the Samsung application it is possible to update the firmware, i.e. the internal software of the drive. The program checks its timeliness and, if necessary, retrieves the necessary data.

The Performance Tests tab allows you to test how write and read transfers and IOPS parameters look like in relation to factory values. The data is stored, so that the user can perform tests periodically or in different load variants and the space occupied, allowing him to compare the results. In the case of systems that do not support TRIM commands (e.g.

Windows XP) from the application level, it is possible to force optimization of the disk, i.e. appropriate distribution of the load on memory cells. The Security tab allows you to use hardware encryption.

Drives can support a total of three of its methods: class 0 i.e. via ATA password, OPAL via TPM hardware module, and Encrypted Drive function for Windows 8 or later, which enables the use of BitLocker eDrive mechanism.

One of the available tabs allows you to check the correctness of the system settings. SSDs may require other settings, depending on our preferences, e.g. to extend their durability or to achieve maximum performance.

Magican allows you to quickly disable some functions such as Windows Search services and previous loading into memory. Thanks to the application, the user can also control the setting of the hibernation, and the size of the exchange file. The application also allows you to activate the RAPID mode.

It allows you to cache data stored on the disk, which in effect should increase the speed of action, especially in situations when you use multiple applications at the same time. Magician also allows you to perform Secure Erase operations, i.e. complete deletion of data from the media.

It can be carried out from the application as well as from a special media that we will create with its help. The program is available free of charge and does not have a Polish version.
