RPCS3 is an open source, free emulator for PlayStation 3. It has been developed since 2011 and is now supporting modern DirectX12 and Vulkan renderers, allowing more and more games to run on this machine - if you have a computer with at least Core i5 Sandy Bridge (or AMD equivalent) - it is important that it supports SSE3 extensions, 4 GB RAM and at least GeForce 400-series or Radeon HD5000 graphics card. The emulator should be obtained from your Sony firmware console (the latest version already allows you to install it from the distribution file PS3UPDAT.PUP).

Simple homebrew games on PS3 can be found on Brewology, for example. Commercial games should of course be purchased and then ripped to the ISO image. Enabling PPU Interpreter (precise) and SPU Interpreter (precise) allows for more precise emulation, but works more slowly.

A faster emulation can be achieved by setting PPU Interpreter (fast) and SPU Interpreter (fast). If the game works with fast interpreters on, you can speed it up even more, including the PPU Recompiler and SPU Recompiler. You should not use other graphics settings than FullHD (1920×1080) and HD (1280×720), the FPS limit should be left to Auto, Read/Write Color/Depth buffers should remain off, they do not work properly yet.
