PeStudio is a very simple and free, yet very useful tool for static analysis of every Windows executable file. While the program is running, it is examined whether the indicated file contains harmful components and may be dangerous for the computer. This process is executed without actually running the executable file defined by us.

The tool allows you to analyze EXE executable files and other types of data such as DLL, OCX, SYS, MUI, CPL, AX and so on. The result of PeStudio is a report containing detailed information about the so-called trusted indicators, i.e. data about which components of the file do not meet generally accepted security standards.

In addition, the program also allows for antivirus analysis of the file using the popular VirusTotal service. This function does not send a file to this service, but only the MD5 checksum. Using PeStudio we will assess the reliability of archives created with the use of UPX/MPRESS mechanisms and examine whether components such as PDF, ZIP and JAR embedded in an executable file pose a threat to the operating system.

The tool does not require installation, supports drag-and-drop method, enables quick and accurate analysis of any EXE file, and is a very good addition to standard antivirus software.
