Picard is an advanced program for editing metadata (id3 tags and other) of music files. Its main task is to download information about music from MusicBrainz, of which it is the official "customer". Picard is not one of the easiest to use programs, but it is perfect for recognizing music files and finding the right tags for them in the MusicBrainz database.
In order to download tags for your songs, you need to upload them to the list (as individual files or entire folders). The list of files can be found in the left panel of the program. Next, the selected files should be identified, what are the "check" options.
(reading the metadata currently stored in the file) and 'search'. (searching the MusicBrainz database). The Picard uses music fingerprints (PUID) to identify it.
Identified songs are moved to the right pane of the program, where they can be grouped by artist, album or song. There you can also select the version and edition of the album, edit the tags manually and save the information to a file. In addition, Picard automatically identifies CDs and provides cover management tools.
The program can be expanded with plugins written in Python. Useful add-ons, such as searching for additional pages or downloading specific tags, can be found on the project page. A short instruction manual is also available.
