KiCad is a versatile and free package of tools for drawing schematics and PCB design. The software is developed and developed by French researcher Jean-Pierre Charles on an open source basis. It is based on the wxWidgets library, so it can be run on Windows, Linux, Mac OS, Solaris or FreeBSD systems.
It consists of 5 powerful tools - schematics editor (eeschema), PCB editor (pcbnew), Gerber file viewer (gerbview), application for assigning housings of electronic elements (cvpcb) and program for creating graphic elements on boards (bitmap2component). All of them are managed from the level of the main component, the kicad component. All projects prepared with the KiCad package can be easily exported to Postscript, SVG, Gerber RS274D/X, HPGL, DXF and Excellon files.
