ImDISK is an open source tool that allows you to create a RAM-disk, which is a virtual drive placed in the operating memory of your computer, which from the user's perspective is no different from other disk drives - you can perform the same operations on files on it. At a time when we often have 8 or more gigabytes of RAM in computers today, creating a drive that beats the best SSDs in terms of transfer speed and file access time is a good idea. By placing application handwritten files on a virtual disc, you can speed up the application many times over.

Of course, when you turn off the computer, the RAM-disk content is lost, so you need to make sure that the data is automatically transferred to normal storage. Importantly, ImDISK allows you to dynamically scale the RAM-disk size, so that even if you have created a 1 GB drive and you actually store 100 MB of files in it, only 100 MB will be taken from the RAM memory. The tool also allows you to force the RAM-disk to boot after Windows startup, and synchronizing the content with the indicated directory on the hard disk.

An additional advantage is the ability to mount images of memory media - not only ISO, but also DMG, RAW, VHD and several others.
