HTTPS Everywhere is a small and very easy to use extension for the most popular web browsers (Firefox, Google Chrome, Opera), which protects the user against theft of confidential data. The principle of HTTPS Everywhere is simple and consists in forcing the browser to use encrypted HTTPS protocol when opening many popular websites. In practice, it looks like the plugin changes references from HTTP to HTTPS and allows for safe browsing of many (supported) websites.
However, if the SSL protocol is not supported by the server, the browser will use the standard HTTP protocol. The extension after installation is available as an icon in the upper part of the browser window (near the search field). From its level we can enable/disable the protection rules, as well as display a full list of them and restore the default settings.
HTTPS Everywhere also allows you to automatically block all unencrypted connection attempts.
