Hexen: Beyond Heretic is another classic FPP production based on the Doom engine, which takes the player to the dark fantasy world. Instead of powerful rifles, rifles and rocket launchers, the whole weapon was turned into a magical or knightly weapon, respectively.
Years ago, the title was more widely appreciated for trying to do something different in a market dominated by similarly presented, first 3D shooters. The game, dressed in a story about the fight against the sneaky Korax, may seem familiar. The throw on the action is apparently the same in the end, only different weapons.
However, Raven Software has introduced a choice of character class (warrior, cleric, magician), which translates into a slightly different fun, because everyone benefits from his or her characteristic equipment and has his or her good and weaker sides. The first hero focuses on forceful solutions, while the others stick to enemies at a greater distance. Manufacturers were not afraid to bend well-known technology to their needs.
As a result, we got not only a beautifully presented product for our time, but also offering unprecedented options, such as destructive stained-glass windows. They often hide the necessary items. In a different way, the stages were also spread out, connecting them into larger areas.
Naturally, Hexen used to make a lot of fuss at home rallies of computers, because it offers online gameplay. The characters can also jump. The shareware version offers four levels to play, in a cross-sectional way showing what the product has to offer.
To have fun you will need to download and run the DOSBox program. We also recommend that you read the video tutorial on how to configure it correctly.
