HDDScan is an installation-free and free tool for diagnosing hard drives, memory cards and external USB storage devices. With its help we will check these devices for errors (so-called Bad-blocks and Bad-sectors), display the available attributes of S.M.A.A.R.T., as well as modify the AAM, APM and other parameters in the media. The program supports most of the hard disk drives available on the market (but not only) and offers features that allow you to examine not only the speed of its operation, as well as the general condition of the device.

Thanks to it, we will carry out tests of verification in linear mode (they allow you to diagnose an upcoming failure), reading and writing, giving the user an overview of the state of the media. HDDScan also has the option of measuring the disk temperature, allows you to prepare reports with technical data of the device and provides a lot of useful information based on S.M.A.A.R.T. In the case of the latter, the tool is able to carry out quick analyses, on the basis of which various types of errors are detected.

Storage facilities supported by the program include IDE (ATA), SATA, SCSI (SAS), FireWire or IEEE 1394, RAID volumes (based on ATA (IDE) / SATA / SCSI), USB flash drives (USB flash drives) and SATA / ATA SSD drives. According to the author, HDDScan supports media from almost all manufacturers without any problems.
