Freeciv is a constantly evolving strategy game based on the principles of "Civilization II" by Microprose. Originally it was created for Linux. The rules of the game are based on developing one's own civilisation, combating competition and preventing internal unrest.

In order to win the game you must eliminate other races or as the first to build and put into orbit the spacecraft Alpha Centauri. The game is possible with several virtual players (controlled by a computer) as well as in a network.
