Colin McRae Rally is an absolute classic of the genre. The 2005 edition is the last installment of the brand, before it was transformed into the later arm of DiRT, letting the name of the famous driver be forgotten. Despite many years on his neck, the work can still surprise.
Maybe not in terms of graphics, but when it comes to gameplay, it's still very nice to miss the rural wilderness with the remote control. At that time, we had to deal with one of the most advanced graphic engines in racing projects, which allowed us to reproduce the destruction quite realistically. A lot of attention was paid to details.
Vehicles, for example, get dirty after flushing through mud, while crashes are accompanied by screen vibrations, reflecting the actual collision with something hard. Naturally, however, fans loved the high-flying driving model above all. Of course, each of the many available carts is driven differently here, if only depending on the powertrain used.
Not without significance for car manoeuvring is also the type of ground on subsequent parts of a given route. The whole picture is complemented by perfectly matched and recorded sounds. You can feel the action.
A demo version allows you to make a time trial on one of the available routes. The creators approached the cars in a cross-sectional way. We have a handful of models from different classes to choose from.
