BWMeter is, despite its small size, a very functional tool for monitoring the network connections available within the computer. It allows for convenient control and measurement of all incoming and outgoing transfers, as well as its limitation, detailed analysis, etc. The tool, unlike many other solutions of this type, allows simultaneous monitoring and separation of data concerning connections to LAN networks and the Internet.
It displays 2 windows on the desktop, in which graphical indicators of the incoming and outgoing transfer rates are presented in real time for the network interfaces responsible for connection to LANs and the Internet. It offers useful functions for creating reports in which information about the amount of downloaded/sent data is stored in different time frames. However, this is not the end of the possibilities of this small programme.
BWMeter can analyze data packets in detail (providing information about where they come from, where they are transmitted, which port and protocol they use), apply transfer restrictions or block access to the Internet for selected applications. From its level, we will also limit access to indicated websites, and using the built-in filter mechanism, we will be able to monitor the transfer usage by individual processes and applications running on the system.
