Alcohol 120% is an easy to use program that combines the features of a tool designed for burning discs and a CD/DVD emulator. The application easily backs up CDs and DVDs (to CD-R, CD-RW, DVD-R, DVD-RW, DVD-RAM and DVD+RW), including those protected by Laserlock, SafeDisc, SafeDisc2, Securom, Securom, StarForce 1.x/2.x, VOB ProtectCD and VOB ProtectCD v5 technologies. A big advantage of Alcohol 120% is the option to create virtual drives (up to 31), through which it is possible to play back disc images without the need to burn them.

The program supports the most popular disc image formats - BlindRead (*.bwd), BlindWrite V5/V6 (*.b5t/*.b6t), CloneCD (*.ccd), Cue-sheet (*.cue), DiscJuggler (*.cdi), Instant CD/DVD (*.pdi), Nero (*.nrg), ISO Standard (*.iso), compressed ISO (*.isz) and Media Descriptor (*.mds, *.mdx), which is used by the program when creating media images. The new version also debuts with the Xtra function, which is used to create images (*.mds, *.iso) from files located on the local hard disk.
