Xonotic is a fully free online FPS that is the direct successor to Nexuiz, a project taken over in principle by the community interested in further development of the game. The title dates back to the times of Quake 1, which is evidenced by the fact that Xonotic runs on a heavily modified and upgraded version of the engine of this game. Its online, peculiar character of the game and the whole mechanics of the game very much resembles such items as Unreal Tournament, Cube, OpenArena or the already mentioned Quake.

Originally Xonotic was supposed to be a continuation of the Nexuiz project, but over time and with the progress of work on the game, it gained independence and many individual features, and this made it recognized as a completely separate and autonomous position in the entire collection of the species. The basic feature of the game is its dynamics, activity and lively gameplay. Moreover, the picture of the game is always smooth, regardless of the energy and effectiveness of the action.

Given the fast pace of gameplay, on the ascents, wondering and planning in Xonotic simply does not take place. As soon as we appear on the battlefield, we engage in a duel without hesitation. Network game modes such as Arena, Deathmatch and Capture The Flag are no surprise, as they are well known from many other FPS games.

However, Xonotic offers something more in the form of such modes as Assault, Domination, Freeze Tag, Keepaway, Key Hunt, Nexball, Race and Runematch. It is also worth mentioning the availability of the singleleplayer mode, which prepares and shoots up for skirmishes on the web. Advanced scenery, rich gameplay modes, rich, futuristic armament, unusual dynamics and unpredictability of the action will certainly not allow anyone to be bored with this title.
