WinMTR is a Windows-based clone of a popular Linux traceroute program written by Matt Kimball. The program examines the path along which packets are sent from the client's computer to a selected remote IP address - it shows which hosts go through, what are their individual response times, where the loss of packets takes place and, most importantly, in relation to the usual system command tracert works constantly (taking samples every second) and gives the average, smallest and largest values of measured parameters. The tool works extremely fast (e.g.
solves the names of individual IP addresses in the background) and conveniently, it is suitable not only for administrators, but also for ordinary users who want to diagnose possible problems with network operation.
