WinCvs is a free, graphical CVS client for Windows environment. It also includes an integrated command line tool and a local access mode that allows you to create local repositories without running the pserver service. Allows you to use CVS with virtually no knowledge of the text mode commands.

The program works on the basis of CVSNT, a version of CVS for the Windows platform. CVS (Concurrent Versions System) is used for group work on extensive projects. It allows you to control file versions, go back to any stage of project development, compare changes in files or make modifications.

Users make changes to local files, then send the changed versions to the server. If several people try to send the same modified file to the server, they receive information about the conflict, unless each person has modified a different piece of code, in which case CVS is able to combine the changes in one file itself. CVS also allows you to block the file we are working on, in which case no person involved in the project will be able to overwrite it in the repository until we send the finished file.

An important advantage of this solution is practically unlimited number of people who can work on one project.
