Sophos Anti-Rootkit is a free program designed to detect and remove rootkits - potentially dangerous, hidden programs and processes that can allow hackers to break into and take control of the system or hide other potentially dangerous software. The application scans the registry, files on the hard disk and running processes. When a rootkit is detected, it provides a number of data about the rootkit, including information on how it affects the system's ability to remove such a pest.
Unfortunately, Sophos Anti-Rootkit does not install its shortcut in the Start Menu, so you need to run it directly from the folder where the installation files were extracted. After commissioning, however, it is trivially easy to use.
