SetPoint is Logitech's software that allows owners of the manufacturer's devices to customize them to their preferences. However, it does not support the G-Series controllers, as a separate application, Logitech Gaming Software, has been developed for them. The tool is completely optional and addressed to more demanding customers.
If you want to use the basic functions of a device (in the case of a mouse it will be a left and right button or a roller, as well as buttons for backwards and forwards), SetPoint turns out to be a completely superfluous program. However, when we want to check the operation of the additional possibilities, its installation proves necessary. SetPoint allows you to assign a variety of functions to the function keys and access keys on your keyboard and mouse buttons.
When the popular "rodent" has more than five buttons and a tilting wheel (for horizontal scrolling only in standard Windows applications on the desktop; otherwise it is not necessary to have SetPoint), we can use this program to operate it. Windows 8 users with a Logitech device (excluding the G-Series) can also assign function shortcuts to this version of the "windows" to use the function keys.
Among the available functions, compatible with Windows 8, you will find: startup screen, show desktop, switch application, bar and application bar.
