PilotEdit Lite is a free text editor for programmers, which, as the creator assures, is very well able to edit large files up to 10GB and transfer files even above 4GB to/from FTP server. The most important functions of the program include a tab mechanism that allows you to work with multiple files in one window, the ability to edit any file in HEX (hexadecimal) mode, syntax coloring, options for simultaneous search for specified expressions in all open files, as well as comparing the contents of selected folders and an unlimited option to undo/restore the changes made. There was also support for regular expressions.

PilotEdit Lite can automatically recognize the encoding used in edited files, change the encoding of multiple files simultaneously, and automatically adjust the encoding when copying and pasting text between files with different encoding systems. The tool offers a wide range of personalisation options, including customisation of toolbars, etc.
