Otter Browser is a Polish web browser that draws on the best of the classic Opera 12, no longer unrolled, but well known for its immense possibilities. It is also modelled on the increasingly popular Maxthon. Michał Dutkiewicz, known as Emdek, is responsible for the development of the browser using QtWebKit and focusing on modularity.

The browser offers the user all the most important functions, i.e. card browsing, support for modern Internet technologies and Flash support. Although seemingly simple, it allows you to personalize and change a large number of settings:

configuring a proxy, loading cards on demand, presenting yourself as a completely different browser, as well as a precise configuration of pages using SSL encryption. As the author himself admits, there is still a long way to go before the project reaches the level of classical Opera. However, he is not afraid to say that at this stage the possibilities are already comparable to the new Opera and, given the completely different number of people involved in both projects, this is a definite success.

Wydra, because this is the browser's name in Polish, uses QtWebKit, but from the very beginning it was designed with other solutions in mind. With Qt 5.3 it will be possible to use QtWebEngine, as well as the Blink engine known from Google Chrome. The main purpose of this browser is to hand over power to the user.

It is not about copying the old Opera House, but about proposing a modular browser, which everyone will be able to adapt to their own needs. Of course, not all options at all can be transferred to Otter Browser. The beta browser is available for both Windows and Linux - on the project website there are both installation files and deb packages, in the latter case both in the 32 and 64 bit editions.
