Service Release 1a (SR-1a) contains a set of updates to the first version of MS Office 2000, including application updates, security patches and updates, and updated system components for MS Windows 2000. An update to 2000 SR-1a is required to install subsequent updates and patches. Microsoft recommends that all Microsoft Office 2000 users upgrade to version 2000 SR-1a in order to receive the latest updates and a number of benefits, such as:

updates to various Microsoft Office 2000 programs, including Microsoft Word, Outlook, Access, Excel, PowerPoint, FrontPage* and Publisher; security updates, including Excel 2000 SYLK File Security Updates, Worm Virus Alert.Explore.Zip and ODBC Driver Gap Update; Microsoft Office 2000 system components, updated to Windows 2000.

Note: 1. Before installing SR-1a update, MS Windows 95/98/NT users are advised to install the latest version of Windows Installer.

The latest version of Windows Installer is available for download under PROGRAMS -≫ Add-ons. Upgrade to version 2000 SR-1a requires access to the Microsoft Office 2000 CD or the location of the network installation during the installation process.

3. the above program will update to version 2000 SR-1a on its own, via the Internet. The size of downloads, depending on the detected version of MS Office 2000, ranges from 26 to 40MB.

It is also possible to download a full upgrade for installation on multiple computers and/or installation on a computer not connected to the Internet. To do so, download the following files O2KSR1ADL.EXE (40MB) and DATA1.EXE (122MB) from the Microsoft website.
