MHDD is a tool for diagnosing and repairing very powerful drives. It is worth mentioning that the author, Dimitry Postrigan, has extensive experience in repairing hard drives. The program works independently of the installed operating system, access to the disk is realized directly through the controller, and bypassing the BIOS.

It does not matter what is the filesystem or the number and size of partitions. The MHDD works with all integrated IDE, SATA controllers in Intel chipsets, Via as well as some external controllers from manufacturers such as Promise and HPT. With this program you can create a low-level disk format, unselect bad sectors, remove free sectors or set or remove the ATA password.

Importantly, the drive must be set in master mode and must be the only device connected to an IDE or SATA channel. Additionally, in order to start the program you need to burn the downloaded iso image on the media and start the computer from it. If you don't have experience with such programs, don't use MHDD, because among the many available commands are those that can permanently damage your drive!
