Maldita Castilla is an incredible breath of the past. This free project managed to capture the joy of playing the automatic hit Ghosts 'n Goblins many years ago, as well as subsequent parts of the series, and play it for an entirely new generation of fans of the world of electronic entertainment. Playing requires good dexterity, and at the same time the production has been really well worked out, as for a free work.
Here we play the brave knight Don Ramiro of the title cursed Castile, who has to deal with successive hosts of dark forces, from the relatively harmless undead, dying from one blow to the mighty bosses. The gameplay is based on pushing ahead to the right, eliminating new enemies, and collecting coins and chests with various bonuses along the way. Naturally, blows must be avoided.
The hero will use a variety of weapons and other useful items in combat. From a graphic point of view, Maldita Castilla performs extremely well mainly due to the special filter that places lines on the image to imitate the interlacing like in old screens. It can nevertheless be switched off.
Another interesting thing is speedrun mode, which is something for fans of passing games as fast as possible. In it you can always see the time of the game, which motivates you to push further.
