MailEnable Standard is a free edition of one of the most popular and best email servers for Windows. MailEnable, in addition to hosting user mailboxes accessible via POP3 protocol and SMTP connector, also offers webmail made in .NET technology, the ability to create mailing lists and user groups, has an autoresponder, and supports APOP and POP before SMTP authentication, access configuration based on IP addresses or the ability to create white and black IP and DNS lists. There are also many other administrative functions related to email delivery, user authentication and server operation.
Administration is very convenient and runs from the MMC console, and the fact that MailEnable is able to authenticate users based on Active Directory is noteworthy. Starting from version 8, the server in the free version (Standard) offers IMAP support. For more demanding tasks, there are paid Professional and Enterprise editions equipped with a built-in antivirus and anti-spam engine, clustering services, and the ability to manage through a web-based administration panel.
