LastPass is an online service that gives users access to a personal, secure online database of passwords, notes and online identities. It integrates with popular web browsers allowing you to use LastPass instead of the original password manager. The application installer detects the browsers installed on your computer and suggests installing add-ons to them.
It provides support for Internet Explorer, Firefox, Chrome, Opera and Safari, both on Windows and Mac, as well as various Linux distributions. After creating an account or logging in to an existing one, LastPass takes over the role of a password manager - user data is collected in the manufacturer's online database in a form encrypted with the main password. Its loss is associated with the loss of data stored in the database, even after confirming the owner of the account by means of an email address.
In addition to automatically saving data and then filling in forms, the manager offers a number of useful options. The user can group the data, view it, edit it. It is also possible to save secure notes, both text and specific notes, e.g.
credit card details, email details, passport information, SSH keys, etc. LastPass also offers the creation of automatic form filling profiles and ready to use identities on the Internet. The application supports two-component authentication, e.g.
by means of Google Authenticator application or YubiKey tokens. From the add-on level, the user can perform a security check to identify weak or duplicate passwords and assess their strength. Its biggest advantage is the fact that it works as an addition to a web browser, which makes it universal and available on almost every platform.
The basic version of the application is free of charge. The extended Premium version, available for a test period of 14 days, allows you to use LastPass on mobile devices such as Android, Windows Phone, iOS, or Symbian, and also has extended, priority support in case of problems.
