Kurupira WebFilter is an extensive and completely free application for parental protection. Among other things, it allows you to control the websites you visit, the applications you run and the time your child spends in front of the computer. After starting, the program works within the system tray, giving the possibility of working in hidden mode, in which the icon in the tray is not displayed.
Access to the management panel is protected by a password, which prevents children from changing the protection settings. All functions built in Kurupira WebFilter are divided into 2 modules responsible for controlling the computer while using the Internet and applications installed on the computer. On the 'Web' tab there are tools designed to control the activity on the Internet.
It includes the function of blocking access to pornographic or any other user-defined pages and creating lists of places on the Web to which access is in no way restricted. In addition, Kurupira WebFilter gives you the ability to supervise the time spent by your child on the Internet, as well as block selected instant messengers and social networking sites. You can also use the report and history functions to track your child's website in detail.
The reports generated by the program can be printed or saved to a PDF file. Another set of functions, allowing to manage and monitor applications running on the computer, is located in the 'Applications' tab. Among the tools offered there you will find those that will allow you to block selected programs, create a list of allowed programs, and create and view screenshots taken while working with the computer.
As in the case of the module to control children's actions on the Internet, here are the functions of reports and history. Noteworthy is the option of e-mail notifications. This allows parents to receive messages in their mailbox when they try to access blocked pages/programs or when Kurupir WebFilter takes a screenshot.
Such notifications can be sent once a day at a fixed time and when the program is turned off. Kurupira WebFilter is currently available only in English language version, but despite the extensive functionality, its use is simple and should not cause problems even for novice users.
