Like many of id software's summer games, the cult Quake 2 has also seen an improved version of the technology on which the title was built, improved by fans of the great hit. Thanks to KMQuake II, the old, but evergreen project presents itself much better than the smudged to the limit version of the work, developed for the first graphic accelerators. These are also code corrections.
By default, of course, much higher screen resolutions are unlocked, so much sharper textures come to the forefront, filtered in such a way that you can see the previously blurred details on enemies. The programmer responsible for the development of the project has also added many graphic effects, with great looking particles, ball reflections and generally improved lighting at the forefront. In addition, the main menu has been visually remodeled, full of new interesting options.
The game can be adjusted to your expectations. KMQuake II is also a number of conveniences for map makers, as many of the limitations of the original have been removed, allowing the creation of complex stages, as well as modifications. Thanks to this, there is a large group of people who continue to measure in the online mode, because the community around the title did not laze.
The new version of the engine supports multiplayer fun on its own servers. In order to play it is required to download files with the PAK extension, which contain Quake II game data, to the baseq2 KMQuake II directory. Apart from files from the full version, there are also supported those from the test edition of the demo hit, as well as those prepared by fans.
