Kerkythea is an application that in a relatively short time allows to achieve high quality rendering with realistic lighting and the use of materials with physical properties similar to real ones. The main goal of the creators of the program was to provide tools facilitating and partly automating the arrangement of a given scene and work on it, including convenient setting of the properties of a given object, or quick access to individual options - all under the control of a coherent, legible interface. The main strength of the program is its simplicity of use and a wide range of rendering capabilities - from simple ray tracing to Photon Mapping or Metropolis Light Transport (BiPT).

The programme has already gained considerable popularity among the circles of people involved in architectural design, and is used on a wider scale by many scientific institutes.
